Press Release - Stratford Original Working With the Young Police Cadets

Cadets volunteer to provide meet & greet service in Meridian Square, Stratford London alongside the Stratford Original ambassadors during the World Athletics Championships
Stratford Original is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Stratford Town Centre. One of the main objectives of the BID is to make the original side of Stratford feel safer and more welcoming. The BID is pleased to welcome the World Athletics Championships to Stratford, London. The championships is the biggest global sporting event of the year with the world’s biggest athletics heroes competing in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
With tens of thousands of people visiting Stratford everyday from Friday 4th August until Sunday 13th August 2017, Stratford Original has partnered with the Metropolitan Police Young Police Cadets to provide meeting and greeting services to visitors, residents and local employees. The Stratford Original’s very own street Ambassadors will be working alongside the young Police Cadets during busy event times in Meridian Square, outside Stratford Station to reassure the public, and to support new and old visitors with wayfinding and all things to do in and around Stratford Town Centre.
“Stratford Original is committed to making Stratford a safer and more welcoming place for everyone to enjoy. We are excited to be working alongside the Newham Police Cadets and the local Police Teams to meet and greet visitors and showcase the variety of businesses we have in the town centre.” Gianluca Rizzo, Stratford Original Manager.
“Stratford Town Centre Policing Team are pleased to be working in partnership with the Newham Police cadets and Stratford Original to help promote a Safer Stratford.” Chief inspector Sean Davies.
“We were all pleased to see the enthusiasm and commitment of the young people who volunteered for us, and we had more Police Cadets signing up to volunteer the beginning of their summer holiday, than we had spaces for.” Volunteer Police Cadets Manager.
The Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) is a recognised, police uniformed youth group throughout the UK. The purpose of the VPC is to encourage good citizenship amongst its members. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Pret A Manger for kindly sponsoring the lunches of the Volunteer Police Cadets during the World Athletic Championships.
