Skills are at the very heart of this government’s mission to not only recover economically from the pandemic, but to level up opportunity so that we can thrive – investing in people all across our country and strengthening local economies so they can get the skills they need to get the jobs they want.
Four major campaigns from the Department for Education (DfE) have gone live this week.
Skills for Life: ‘Get the Jump’
The ‘Get the Jump’ Skills for Life campaign brings together all education and training choices for young people in one place, to help them make an informed decision about their next step and choose the path that is right for them.
The campaign covers all education and training options but will specifically spotlight technical education routes, which have lower levels of awareness:
- T Levels
- Traineeships
- Apprenticeships
- Higher Technical Qualifications
Skills for Life: Adult Skills
There are hundreds of courses and qualifications available to adults to help them gain new skills and get into a job that they want, many of which are free. This campaign brings together all the different offers and, alongside a new landing page, aims to raise awareness of the opportunities and help adults decide which is the right course or qualification for them.
Join the Skills Revolution
A range of government programmes are available for employers who are considering hiring employees, offering work experience or up-skilling existing staff, such as apprenticeships, traineeships and T Level industry placements.
The ‘Join the Skills Revolution’ campaign aims to increase employers’ awareness of government training and employment schemes and increase uptake.
Plus, we’re looking for images of apprentices, trainees and T Level industry placement students to use throughout the campaign.Click here for more information and your SME contacts could feature in our national campaign!

Share your Skills: Further Education Teacher Recruitment
‘Share Your Skills’ is a new campaign which calls on skilled professionals to share their valuable expertise and train the next generation of workers in their field by teaching in further education (FE).
The campaign:
- wants to increase awareness, understanding and consideration of FE teaching by promoting the unique, compelling but often unrealised benefits of this career choice.
- promotes the high value and transferability of industry expertise and the opportunity for people to ‘change lives without changing careers’ by teaching in FE part-time alongside their current job.
- focuses on subjects with high vacancy rates: construction and trades; engineering and manufacturing; finance, legal and accounting; digital and IT; and health and social care.
