This idea celebrates the events and outcomes of London 2012, shining a light on the array of people involved in the creation and legacy of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. From planning, logistics and infrastructure to breath-taking performances by Team GB and Paralympics GB, and, arguably, the greatest opening ceremony of all time – London 2012 left London, and the UK, with a lot to celebrate.

The legacy lives on – in venues, facilities, and homes of East London, and in the hearts of those who competed, made it happen and took in the action across the UK and beyond. The East Bank development is underway, bringing the V&A, UCL East, UAL’s London College of Fashion, the BBC and Sadler’s Well East to the area – along with an estimated 1.5 million visitors, 2500 more jobs, and £1.5 billion for the local economy.

An additional 10,000 students will benefit from new courses and facilities. This concept highlights not only the sporting successes of Team GB and Paralympics GB, but celebrates the legacy that the foundations of London 2012 were built on, and what this holds for the future of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and beyond, when the next 10 years will be as exciting as the last: Inspiring generations to pass the baton.

London Legacy Development Corporation are partnering with the British Olympic Association to bring us an array of events that will run through the year from Jan 1st to 31st Dec 2022 on and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
