The Kickstart Scheme is designed to give young people 16–24 an opportunity to take part in quality work placements that will help them develop skills so that they are better placed to find work in the future. London Borough of Newham will be offering placements that last for six months at 25 hours per week. The Scheme is due to begin in November 2020 and end in December 2021.

Placements are funded by the Government at the National Minimum Wage, with each placement attracting a placement fee of £1500. The fee, together with additional funding provided by Community Wealth Building, will be used to top up wages so that LBN Kickstart Placements are paid at London Living Wage.
