Around 50% of children in our community live in poverty. Many are living in such crowded accommodation that they don’t have enough space to play. During the summer holidays, it can be difficult for these families to keep their children inspired, engaged and creative, and get the support they need.

Discover is trying to raise enough funding to give at least 1,000 local families free entry to Story Street during the summer holidays. Here, children will have the opportunity to play, learn, be creative and get active – while their parents relax, knowing their child is safe, supported and happy.

Over the years, Discover has worked with some wonderful local partners to reach families in need. Thanks to Newham’s business community, over 1,600 residents visited Story Street for free in 2025!
