Enhancing Stratford

Building on a healthier, cleaner, and greener trading environment is key for businesses and the BID is best positioned to invest in projects to support Stratford in achieving these ambitions. Explore some of our key initiatives to enhance Stratford.

Place to Rest and Play

Through new and innovative public realm interventions, we are committed to creating better spaces for everyone. We installed a series of benches, table tennis tables and playful floor graphics across our district to create spaces to play and rest.

Greening Stratford

We have installed planters across our town centre and regularly maintain them to keep Stratford blooming,

Additional Cleaning

We know a clean town centre is essential to a thriving town centre, we fund regular additional cleaning of high footfall areas and bespoke cleaning for businesses upon request.

Stratford Future

With more developments taking place in our town centre, it is crucial to stay informed about what is happening in Stratford. With our online platform and series of seminars, we continue to shape the change happening by putting the original Stratford first.

Active Travel

We support cycling through our monthly free bike checks and bike marking services as well as the installation of two bike pumps across the town centre.

Replaced Phoneboxes with Defibrillators

We worked with partners to remove phoneboxes which had become a nuisance and replaced them with updated designs which include defibrillators for public use.

Creative Lighting

We installed creative lights across trees on The Broadway to improve the look and feel of our town centre after dark.

Stratford Explorer Maps

We created maps for Stratford to help visitors find their way around our district. Since their launch in 2017 we have distributed over 15,000 maps to venues. If you would like some maps for your business contact the team.

Stratford Murals

As part of our wayfinding initiatives we commissioned four murals to celebrate our history and people. The artwork was inspired by the grid-like aesthetic of Stratford’s Victorian shop fronts, where advertising and information were stacked above the crammed windows creating a riot of visual information. The artists also spent time with a poetry group in Stratford Library, talking and listening to locals which helped define the written language approach. The murals are designed to brighten the town centre.
